| JTTEF hail CM’s statement at Tourist Guides convention | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 8: Welcoming the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad's, statement at the 11th annual convention of Tourist Guides Federation of India in Srinagar yesterday that tourist guides have a significant role in promoting tourism and instilling confidence among the prospective tourists, Jammu Tourist Trades Employees Federation,(JTTEF) has reiterated its demand that Tourism Department should introduce short term courses to train the workers at grass root level working in the tourism related trades, acquainting them with the historical and legendary background. The tourist guides, who motivate the visitors to check in hotels of their choice and guide them about the facilities available there, should be duly registered, to spare them of any harassment from any official agency, as well as to regulate their activities, to ensure that they do not indulge in underhand practices and cause harassment to the tourists. A meeting of the Federation held here today under the Chairmanship of its President M C Padha also demanded that the Asia’s first underground aquarium at Bagh-e-Bahu in Jammu should be widely publicized among the Vaishno Devi pilgrims as well as all over the country through different channels. The Federation also condemned the move by some quarters, hostile to the development of tourism in Jammu, to scuttle the proposed project of Amusement Park at Sidhra. Padha also informed the participants in the meeting that the federation will soon take steps to get affiliation with Tourist Guides Federation of India. Others who attended the meeting included Aruna Bakhri, Sunita Padha, Gurmeet Singh, Shiv Kumar and Ram Lal.
