Srinagar, Sept 8: Addressing Public meetings at Wakoora and Tulmula, Ganderbal today, Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that peace is pre-requisite for progress and prosperity. He said that restoration of peace in the state as well as in the sub-continent has been given serious attention by the central government which has helped to create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue with various political and other groups of the state and with Pakistan.
Sharma said that within the preview of dialogue process, opening of Srinagar-Muzafarabad and Poonch-Rawalakot roads has been facilitated and added that throwing open Srinagar-Muzafarabad road for trade is also in offing.
He said on the developmental front the central government has provided huge funding for changing the developmental profile of Jammu and Kashmir and maintained that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi are taking keen interest in the socio-economic upliftment of people of the state.

Making a fervent appeal to the people for taking full advantage of the golden opportunity provided to them by way of liberal funding for their welfare, Pandit asked them not to give any heed to the hollow sloganeering by some political groups who believe in narrow political ideology.
Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir is the symbol of true democratic and secular character and reiterated that it has withstood even the odd times for which the role played by the people of the state cannot be ignored.
Sharma said that keeping in view the lack of dental care facilities in remote and rural areas of the state the government has created more than 300 dental surgeons which would be posted in all primary health centres of the state for the succor of the people.
Responding to the demands putforth by People's Welfare Committee Tulmula, the Minister assured that all their genuine demands which includes construction and upgradation of roads, construction of Public Park, filling up of vacant posts in health and revenue department in the district would be mitigated through concerned Ministries..
