| J&K govt asks agencies to complete Baglihar project on time | | | Early Times Reporter
SRINAGAR|Sep 8: Jammu and Kashmir government has asked the agencies involved in the execution of Baglihar hydroelectric project to redouble their efforts to complete it within the stipulated time.
The 450 MW power project was taken up during 1999 and slated for commissioning in April next year, official sources said.
Addressing members of the recently constituted committee entrusted to monitor progress of the project, State's Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora asked the civil contractors to mobilise additional manpower and equipment for achieving the targets well in time.
The committee members are chief secretary C Phunsog, commissioner of planning and development S S Kapoor and commissioner-secretary power development department Basharat Ahmed.
They said the engineers of power development corporation were asked to work during night to increase the pace of work. The engineers were asked to stay on the site to ensure proper monitoring of the constructions, sources said.
The executing agencies were directed to complete preparatory work for phase two of the Baglihar project which is estimated to produce 450 MW power, they said.
