| Govt. announces CM’s gold medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious public service to 5 officers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Srinagar | AUGUST 14 The Jammu and Kashmir government has accorded sanction to award Chief Minister’s gold medal for honesty, integrity and meritorious public service to five officers for the year 2006. They are Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khwaja, IAS, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department; Mr. Charanjit Singh, KAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua; Mr. Sonam Morup, Superintending Engineer, R&B, Leh; Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, AEE, Technical Officer to Superintending Engineer, R&B, Srinagar-Budgam; and Mr. Ravi Magotra, Director Budget, Finance Department. The awardees will be given a gold medal, cash award of rupees one lakh and a certificate. Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khwaja, 55 years, joined service in 1977, is an honest officer by conviction. He has been consistently enjoying good reputation among the public. He was awarded Presidential silver medal for meritorious service for his outstanding performance during the conduct of census 1981. He was closely associated with the task of conduct of 1996 elections. He was popular with the people as Deputy Commissioner, Budgam and enjoyed the reputation of an upright, gentle and hardworking officer. Mr. Charanjit Singh, 55 years, joined service in 1973, enjoys very good reputation and remained popular wherever posted. He is generally considered as one of the best officers of the Revenue Department in view of his reputation as a man of integrity. The technique of measurement of land by ETS dispensing with the traditional system of measurement was introduced during his tenure as Assistant Settlement Officer, Jammu during which period he conducted extensive surveys. Mr. Sonam Morup, 57 years, joined service in 1976, is an honest and outstanding engineer who has worked hard all these years in the tough terrain of Ladakh. He has been associated with a number of engineering projects in Ladakh area. His main achievements have been the design, construction and commissioning of Stakna Hydel Project, Micro Hydel Projects of Hunder, Sumoor and Basgo and widening of Kargil-Sankoo road. As per survey conducted by Ladags Melong, an NGO, Mr. Morup was chosen by the people as the most honest officer in district Leh. Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, 46 years, joined service in 1984, has reputation for cent percent honesty and integrity as an engineer. He is technically sound and knowledgeable. As Technical Officer with Superintending Engineer, R&B, Srinagar, has contributed to the design of roads and bridges. He made excellent contribution as a member of the quality control team for the national highway by-pass project. Mr. Ravi Magotra, 51 years, joined service in 1977, is an uncompromising and professionally competent officer. He is an Accounts Service Officer who has served in more than 16 departments of government/corporations/boards/autonomous bodies. He played a vital role in the establishment of the Directorate of Audit and Inspections. He has framed pay fixation ready reckoner in 1998 as per the revised pays scale. He has been consistently rated as an outstanding officer. |
