Twenty-seven officers/police personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been given awards for gallantry and meritorious service on the occasion of Independence Day. Five police officials have been given Sher-i-Kashmir Police medal for meritorious service while 22 have been awarded with Sher-i-Kashmir Police medal for gallantry.
The police personnel who have been awarded medals for meritorious service are ADG security J&K Mr Madan Lal, IGP Mr. K. Rajindra, IGP Traffic J&K, Mr A.R. Khan, Dy. SP CID, Mr Dev Raj Bhagat and Inspector (S) Mr Mohammad Aslam and those given gallantry medals are SSP Reasi, Mr J. L. Sharma, Additional SP Doda, Mr Varinder Sharma, Dy. SP Hqrs (Now SP) Mr Zahid Naseem Manhas, Dy SP Pulwama, Mr Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, Dy SP Handwara, Mr P.N. Tickoo, SDPO Reasi, Mr Pawan Kumar Parihar, Dy SP Rajouri, Mr T.R. Katoch, Dy. SP Hqrs Rajouri, Mr K. S.
