Says corruption is untolerable

Srinagar | Sep 9 – Minister for Transport and Chairman PDF Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has underlined the need to take people of the state into confidence on the issue of relocation of forest portfolio previously held by Qazi Mohammad Afzal. He also demanded constitution of a high power committee to probe into the complaints against all the political leaders, ministers and bureaucrats about their involvement in reported malpractices.
Addressing a well attended public meeting at Makahama in Budgam district Hakeem Yaseen reiterated that lasting solution to the Kashmir issue could be found only through tripartite talks. He urged to continue the dialogue process and stressed for involvement of all political leaders of various thoughts in it to resolve all issues amicably. He exhorted upon both the counties to take advantage of the present conducive situation for peace and prosperity of the region. He called for coordinated efforts to make the Jammu and Kashmir state prosperous.
Hakeem Yaseen said that government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has prioritized safeguard of human rights in the state adding that steps taken in this direction show the concern of the government in upholding the human rights.
The Minister said that government is committed for implementing its Common Minimum Programme adding that speedy and equitable development of all the regions of the state is the top agenda of the government. He said that government has already launched various projects and welfare schemes in the state and accorded priority to the development of downtrodden and neglected areas. He said that the key to holistic development of the state lies in active participation of the public keeping an eye on all development works going on in their respective areas.
Mr. Yaseen said that government would also implement agenda to root out the corruption from the state administration with iron hand adding that several steps have already been taken in this behalf.
The Minister said that during past years of the coalition rule, massive development programmes have been initiated in Budgam district under which 157 road projects and 28 water supply schemes have been taken up. He said work on these projects is going on with full swing and these will be completed during next one year.
