| Mufti'sDeparture Indicate Coaltion not facing crisis | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar|Sep 9 The ongoing political crisis in Jammu and Kashmir seems to have been blown over. This is evident from the departure of PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed to USA where he is expected to address a conference on Indo-US relations and attend series of other meetings with think tank and policy makers on South Asia. A senior party leader when asked to comment on the ongoing political crisis and timing of the Mufti’s visit to US , he was quick in his response and said,” though Mufti sahib was scheduled to visit USA but his exit from the scene does indicate that for the time being the crisis are over. Before visiting USA Mufti sahib held meetings with Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and apprised him of the current political situation in the state. Significantly, political crisis gripped Azad led coalition govt in the state a day later as both the coalition partners crossed swords over the issue of divesting portfolio of a senior PDP minister by Chief Minister. When asked what will be the fate of former Forest Minister Qazi Mohd Afzal, the PDP leader said it is for PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti to decide." I am not in a position to make a statement on the issue". He said, our party has already made it clear that Chief Minister must recall his cabinet colleague and allot him the same portfolio. On his part Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has not accepted his resignation and has reposed full faith in him indicating he is not in mood to bend over either. However, political observers here feel that in the absence of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed from the state no important political development will take place. A senior political analyst commented by saying that Mufti has full faith in his daughter and her political acumen and is the reason why he left the playground wide open for her to continue play game of tug of war with the chief Minister over the issue of divesting portfolio of PDP minister without their consent. We do not expect much political development in the coming days but we will keep hearing discordant notes from both the sides, senior PDP leader said smilingly .
