| SRTC Employees hoping for early release of salaries | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|September 9 : After spending past seven days on the streets organizing protests and holding protest rallies more than five thousand SRTC employees are looking forward to early release of their pending salaries. The state Transport Minister Hakeem Mohd Yaseen has already given enough hints to bring smiles on the faces of striking employees that in the absence of Finance commissioner the salaries were withheld and now their salaries will be released soon after he assumes charge. "I am aware of the hardships our employees were facing due to non payment of salaries for past several months but now we will not waste any more days as Finance Commissoner, visiting London, is back in Srinagar and desired action will be taken at the earliest,Transport Minister said. When asked why state government was not able to pay their salaries during last month what was the reason behind delay, the Minister said the PSU is not earning profit and every month we are taking money from the state government to distribute salaries to our employees. If we are spending more than Rs 3 crore on petrol and other expenses every month at least we shouldbe able to earn some profits.Practically we are incurring huge losses every month and not earning any single paise profit. "I cannot stand outside govt treasury and demand money.I am at the receiving end as my own people are not supporting me.If these employees return some profit I will be in a better position to bargain better facilities for them but it is not happening the transport minister said hoping to revive the ailing PSU after the present stalemate comes to an end.
