| Tragedies do not wait fulfillment of commitments | | Marsu boat capsize exposes govt's tall claims of connectivity | | Early Times Reporter Doda|Sep 10 The boat capsize tragedy at Marsu village in which three tenth class students were consigned to death has actually exposed the tall claims of the Government about connecting the farthest of the far villages of the state. The tragedy that took away life of three youth emanates from the fact that people living in the area, banking upon the commitment of chief Minister who about a year back had made a commitment to rebuild all the bridges washed away in floods within a stipulated time. However, the work for reconstruction of twin foot bridges near Trungal and Marsu villages was abandoned within a few months to be never resumed even after lapse of one year. For the past two years people of the area had only a boat, provided by Bhagliar Power Project authorities, as the means to cross the mighty river as the only nearest bridge over the Chenab is about thirty kilometers away that connects the district head quarter Doda to the rest of the state. People including students of about five villages located on the fringes of the hills across the mighty Chenab were, every morning, forced to take up a voyage at the risk of their lives to come on to this side for work and attending the schools. The today's tragedy in which two siblings Anchal Singh, Desha Devi and their maternal cousin Asha Devi lost their lives ultimately forced the simple blooded people of the area to take to the roads. The tragedy that be fall today made them forget the commitment of people on which they were relying upon even after a year as they cried hoarse, while the redness of their eyes told volumes about the grief they had under gone by loosing three promising students of the area.
