| Panun Kashmir convention to reiterate its commitment on homeland | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 11 Panun Kashmir,a premier organization of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, has reiterated its commitment to campaign for the return of Hindus in an area north-east of river Jehlum with a union territory status. In his message, circulated ahead of the annual National Convention, being organised in Jammu on September 14,Chairman Panun Kashmir,Dr Ajay Chrungoo, said that Panun Kashmir “is a movement for reclaiming our homeland. It is the vision of our survival and not merely a slogan.” Dr Chrungoo said that “our emphasis on homeland for Kashmiri Hindus was the result of our firm belief that those who control Kashmir still hold the view that we are Kafirs(infidels),Mukhbirs(spies) or fifth columnists.” He made it clear that “we cannot return to Kashmir where each Government is trying to make a compromise with those who hounded us out of the valley.” He said that the displaced people were no better than destitutes in acute distress when they chose to sell their immovable property in the valley for a song.”We cannot forget the mindset of those brokers who came from Kashmir to offer a throw away price for what we owned in the valley. The image of usurpers of our houses and land is vivid in our mind and hence we demand a homeland within the valley with union territory status.” Dr Chrungoo said that the main purpose of the annual national convention was not only to reiterate our commitment on securing a separate homeland for Kashmiri Hindus but remember all those of “our community who fell to the bullets of militants. We have to remember those who died of heat strokes, snake bites, diseases and deprivation in exile.”
