| CM inspects expansion of pilgrim facilities at Khirbhawani | | Asks JKPCC to complete Rs. 16.50 cr development project by April next | | Early Times Reporter Tulmulla (Ganderbal)|Sep 11- The shrine complex of Khirbhawani temple here would soon be a highly developed pilgrim centre with expanded facilities for devotees. The major development works taken up within the complex at a cost of Rs. 16. 50 crores are nearing completion. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who visited the shrine complex today, asked the JKPCC to complete the development works before April next so that all facilities were in place for pilgrims on the next Khirbhawani Mela. The Chief Minister, in a meeting held at the shrine complex itself, took stock of the construction programme. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Tourism & PHE, Muhammad Dilawar Mir, Minister for R&B, Gulchain Singh Charak, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mehboob Iqbal, Secretary, R&B, Shailendra Kumar, Managing Director, JKPCC, Ravi Thusoo, District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, G. N. Bodha and Director Tourism, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Shah were present. Azad said that during the last two occasions he observed that the pilgrims thronging the shrine on annual Mela faced problems due to inadequate facilities. He asked the concerned authorities to complete all development works before April next so that on the next Khirbhawani Mela the upgraded and expanded facilities were ready. The State government has taken up a massive uplift and development programme of the shrine with construction of a spacious and beautifully done prayer hall, yagshala, langar, yatrika, reception centre, tenement blocs, dormitory, shops, cloak and change rooms, toilet blocks, motorable steel bridge, path, drain, chain link fencing and barricading of ghat. The renovation of the holy spring, temple area and the existing dharamshala and construction of marble gate, electric sub-station and a sewerage treatment plant were other components of the development activities taken up in the shrine complex. Site development and landscaping was also being undertaken. The Chief Minster asked JKPCC to complete on priority the works already taken in hand. He said the remaining components would be taken subsequently so that entire project was completed in a time bound manner. Azad said that the Rs. 2.54 crores water supply scheme prepared for the complex should be designed in such a manner that it also caters to the needs of the people of Tulmulla village. On his instructions, it was decided that a separate water supply line would be laid from Behama to Tulmulla to augment the water supply in the area. The Chief Minister said that projects executing agencies should avoid revising estimates every now and then and while formulating detailed project reports must keep all components of a project in view to avoid the tendency of cost revision. The Chief Minister was informed that so far, an amount of Rs. 13.05 crores had been spent on implementation of integrated development of Khirbhawani Shrine at Tulmulla. He was told that another Rs. 3.8 crores would be required to complete the works yet to be executed including construction of a dormitory, cloak/change room, sewerage treatment plant, marble gate, toilet block and widening of the existing bridge. He asked the concerned officers to formulate a detailed project report for the additional works which would be forwarded to the union ministry of tourism for funding
