Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced that Tulmulla would be developed as a model village side by side with the development of the famous Khirbhawani temple complex located here.
During his visit of the shrine where he met a deputation of local people who projected some development demands of the area, the Chief Minister said that his government would take up Tulmulla as a model village and work out a project for construction of internal roads, drains, lanes and a community hall under the Model Village scheme. He said drinking water supply for the village would also be augmented.
The Chief Minister said that Tulmulla was already declared a tourist village for which the central government had sanctioned Rs. 50 lakhs to raise basic facilities. He said development projects under model village and tourist village schemes would be integrated to upgrade facilities in the village, a major pilgrim tourist centre because of the Khirbhawani temple. He said the government was planning to lay a separate water supply line for the shrine complex and the surrounding population in Tulmulla village to meet their potable water requirement.
Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Mir Baba Haider Sahab in Tulmulla and paid obeisance there. He also offered fateha. On this occasion, the caretakers of the shrine performed traditional dastarbandi on him.
At the Khirbhawani shrine complex, the Chief Minister, accompanied by his ministerial colleagues, Mangat Ram Sharma, Muhammad Dilawar Mir and Gulchain Singh Charak, took a meeting of concerned officers and reviewed the ongoing development projects for the facilitation of pilgrims.
