| End discrimination with regions, sub- regions: SP | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | September 11: Smajwadi Party President and former Member Parliament, Sheikh Abdul Rehman today said that while putting his point across during the meeting of Working Group in New Delhi, he apart from mooting other proposals for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, stressed for immediate end to discrimination with regions and sub regions.
In a press conference here today he said that during the meeting of Working Group his party urged that the discrimination with the regions and Sub regions has exposed the people to all sorts of trouble.
He said, "State Samajwadi Party suggested to put an end to the discrimination and disparity is mandatory to remove mutual distrust it can only be possible by constituting regional councils for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and according status of Autonomous Hill Development Councils to pockets of sub- regions like Chenab valley areas at par with Leh and Kargil Hill Development Councils.
On the occasion, he said that his party clarified in the meeting that it is only as a consequence of regional and sub regional discrimination in the State that the people of these areas are opposed to Article 370, conferring special Status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Samaj Wadi Party stressed upon the central government to let the democracy flourish in the state which would automatically restore peace, prosperity and development.
