PWF demands separate ‘Pahari state’

The Jammu and Kashmir Pahari Welfare Forum (PWF) has threatened to go to any extent for creation of a separate Pahari State for the Paharies if Scheduled Tribe Status to the Pahari people is not granted before issuance of election notification.
Addressing a press conference here Lokesh Kumar Sharma, President PWF said, if a special ordinance granting Schedule Tribe Status to the Pahari people of the state will gear up their struggle and resorts to agitational means for creation of a separate Pahari State on the pattern of Uttranchal and Jharkhand within Indian Constitution.
Stressing the recommendation of their case by all the successive state govt both at the state and Central establishes its genunity, and all the quarries regarding the case have been replied by the concerned authorities, Sharma said and added that, why the members of the one particular community gets promotion on every step again and again which is denial of justice and constitutional rights of the candidates who are more meritorious, qualified and competent, How long we will tolerate this the justice, he said.
He said, the murder of our democratic demand. We are not in favour of effecting any community or tribe, but paharies have a right to strive for getting the S.T. Status at par with the Gujjars who have not been defined nomadic in any of the census since 1901 to 1941. Sharma said.
Prominent among others who were present in the press conference include Shakeel Azad, Kalab Mosvi, Sabar Hussain Zeenger, Mohib Khan, M.M. Khan, Majid Khan, Liaqat Jafri, Arun Sharma, Dr. Sajad Mirza and Azam Khan (Uri).
