Aijaz Khan favours political reservation for G & B Community

Srinagar| Sep 12 – With the object to resolve people problems at their doorsteps, present Government took bold decision with the creation of new administrative units and creation of hilly Shopian district is one among them in the state. He said that now government machinery is conducting “Public Darbars” in every remote and under developed areas of each district for its speedy development. By adopting this policy, the government is trying to come to the aspirations of people at one hand and ensure active involvement of local people in development activities, he said.
Minister of State for Agriculture and Forest Aijaz Ahmed Khan was addressing one day Gujjar Bakarwals Conference at Shopian yesterday.
Addressing the conference Aijaz called for discussing all problems of the community in such fora and advised the community leaders to seek redressal of their grievance through legal and democratic means. “I will back up such initiatives whole heartedly,” he added.
Khan exhorted upon community members to be united and keep co-ordination in struggle for achieving their legal and democratic rights. He announced Tehsil, block and village level Gujjar Bakarwal Committees would be constituted soon to strengthen this movement.
MLA Shopian Ghulam Hassan Khan addressing the conference gave a sketch of development activities taken up in Gujjar and Bakarwal inhabitant’s area during his tenure. He disclosed that a Gujjar hostel would be constructed at Shopian for which necessary sanction has been accorded recently. He said that it is his motto that each deserving be provided his due.
Prominent leaders of the community who spoke on the occasion included Choudhary Qamar-u-din-Parwana, Choudhary Siray-u-Din, choudhary Noor Afzal, Choudhary Mohd. Yousuf Advocate, Choudhary Nazir Ahmad Badana and Madam Begam Jan representing ladies wing.
At the end, the conference adopted two resolutions unanimously on political reservation and conduct of fresh census to ascertain statistics with regard to population literacy employment etc. of the community
