| Governor visits DPS Srinagar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 12- Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S K Sinha today expressed satisfaction over the growth of educational infrastructure of DPS Srinagar saying that this portrays the fast changing Kashmir which is treading the path of academic excellence. ‘This momentum has to be maintained’, the Governor said during his visit to Delhi Public School here this afternoon. General Sinha referred to his visits to various educational institutions and said though much has been achieved yet more needs to be done, He referred to the quantum development in educational sector all over the country over the years and said that facilities now available would have been inconceivable a few decades ago. The Governor pinned many hopes with youngsters’ saying that Indian youth are already making waves in the other end of the planet and leaving a mark of their excellence. He said India has been producing high quality human resource and hoped that this school too would contribute significantly towards this. He had an advice to the students of DPS to pursue excellence and develop self confidence in academics and other activities. ‘You are going to be the citizens of India which is fast becoming a global power. General Sinha said that he was inspired by the progress achieved by the school and wished it best in its academic odyssey. The achievements of the School at the last Board examination with 100 per cent students qualifying and 80 per cent obtaining distinction was most encouraging, he said. The Governor and Lady Governor Mrs Premini Sinha visited various blocks of the school and interacted with the students. The Chairperson of D P Dhar Trust, Mr Vijay Dhar briefed General Sinha about the functioning of the school, roll of which has gone up to 3000. The students presented a variety programme and gave a resume of activities being undertaken on academic and extra curricular fronts.
