| Huge quantity of FCI ration seized from rice mill | | Owner among two arrested | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 12 Bishnah police today seized a large quantity of Food Corporation of India (FCI) rations from a rice mill in Deoli area of Bishnah, which was being un- loaded in the mill. The ration which was to be dispatched to Srinagar was illegally unloaded at the rice mill here. SP South, Zahid Manhas said today police received specific information that a rice mill owner was black-marketing the FCI ration from last many years and after receiving the information, a police team led by DSP VS Kundal and SHO Arjun Chib, swung into action and raided at Gupta Rice Mills at Village Deoli where police seized about 400 bags of ration from the spot. Sources said the owner of the mill with the involvement of some employees of FCI had unloaded the ration in his mill that was on way to Srinagar. The ration after unloading was being filled in the empty bags bearing markings of the Mill. Police has also recovered large quantity of empty bags of FCI from the spot. Police arrested owner of the mill namely Ashwani Gupta son of Amar Nath resident of Deoli and a driver Manmohan Sharma resident of Kotli Shah Dola, RS Pura and took them to police station along with the seized ration. Sources said during their interrogation police found out that they were active in the black-marketing since last many years and some employees of the FCI were also involved in it. Police has also registered a case in this regard and is investigating the matter. Sources said after their interrogation some more arrests are likely to follow.
