| JAC Gumat Bazar criticize Roshni Act | | Detrimental to trader’s interests: alleges Bajaj | | Early Times Reporter Jammu September 12, 2007 Strongly criticizing the government for fixing exorbitant rates for the Nazool land under the Roshni Act, the Joint Action Committee Upper Gummat Bazar has appealed the government to review its decision and fix the minimum prices of the land. Addressing media persons here today Raj Kumar Bajaj member JAC Gummat Bazar Association has said that the rates fixed by the government are too high which the people, who are in possession of the Nazool land in the area, are unable to pay. The decision of the government would be detrimental to the interests of the trading community, he added. He said that the land in question was allotted to the trader’s way back in 1936 and since then no development has taken place in the area, nor any effort made to connect the Gummat bazaar with the lower Gumat area. He said that the said land should be allotted to the small traders, who are in possession of the land, free of cost as was done in case of farmers The rules framed by the bureaucrats under the Roshni Act are harsh and need to be modified keeping in view the interest of the trading community, he said. Iqbal Khullar, Subash Gupta and Kasturi Lal Gupta also addressed the press conference.
