| Natrang stages Balwants 3 day plays at Chandigarh | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTE JAMMU | AUGUST 14:
A festival of four plays by Natrang concluded at Tagore Theatre,Chandigarh with the presentation of Natrang’s much acclaimed Dogri play’ Ghumayee’. The function was marked with the honouring of Balwant Thakur by the Chandigarh Sangeet NAtak Akademi which was attended by prominent artists and heads of the art institutions including Director North Zone Cultural Centre, Secretary Punjab Arts Council, Secretary Haryana Urdu Academy and head of the Indian theatre department. This mega event focusing the creative journey of a director was jointly organized by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with Haryana Culture Affairs and J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages. According to press release the festival opened with famous play ‘Aap Hamare Kaun Hai’ written by and directed by Balwant Thakur. The play ‘Aap Hamare Kaun Hai’ was applauded by all. This was followed by the performance of ‘Bawa Jitto’ in Dogri which vibrated the Tagore theatre with thrilling performance. A 51 member group of Natrang participated in this mega event ever organized by the group outside the Jammu. This festival has given a new identity at the National Level and also has projected the state as one of the positive intellectual happening place in the country. The prominent artists who participated in the festival included Arvind Anand, Suresh Kumar,Anil Tickoo, Neeraj Kant Vijay Baht, Sanjeev Gupta, Pankaj Sharma, Sat Salarbi etc.
