| Divisional level inter-district Boys’ competitions | | Rajouri, Doda, Kathua share kabaddi titles | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 13 Despite the fact that Jammu has better playing facilities for the indigenous game of kabaddi, districts of Rajouri, Doda and Kathua took home winners trophies in all the three age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 year in the two-day Divisional level inter-district boys kabaddi competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Youth Hostel Nagrota, near here today. Except for under-17 year group, hosts could not even qualify for the semi-finals. Here again, the Jammu boys failed to impress and virtually surrendered to their opponents from Doda 57:19. Other two trophies were shared by Rajouri and Kathua in under-14 and under-19 year categories respectively. In under-14 final, Rajouri outplayed Kathua 44-28 rather easily. Earlier, in the semi-finals, played in the morning session, Rajouri defeated Udhampur 60-30 and Kathua thrashed Doda 46-7. The under-17 trophy was won by district Doda beating Jammu by a convincing margin of 57-19. In the semi-finals, Doda beat Poonch 34-19 and Jammu beat Kathua in a closely contested match 48-44. Winners’ trophy in under-19 age group went to Kathua, who turned the tables against Udhampur in a neck to neck fight 49-47. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Udhampur beat Doda 59-55 and Kathua downed Poonch 50-23. In the veledictory function of the competitions, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, S A Wani was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Among others present were Swarn Singh, Jeet Singh, Chanchal Kour, Sarita Pada, Chander Kanta, Veena Tikoo, B K Tikoo and Sadiq Hussain.
