| ‘60% consumers to get facility by end year’ | | Jora inaugurates computer billing centre | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep13 Minister for Power Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that sixty percent consumers in Jammu would be having computerized bills for Power Tariff by the end of this year. Minister was speaking to Media persons after inaugurating Computerized Electricity Billing Centre at Division II Gandhi Nagar here on Thursday. Minister said that establishment of computerized billing centers is one of the bench mark among various reformative measures initiated by the department to improve Power supply scenario in the state. He said other major bench marks being the convenience to the consumers, to improve efficiency and viability of the department. Reiterating government’s government to provide quality power supply, he said IT tools would be provided to further improve the services at various levels. The 30 Lakh project would cater to fifty thousand installations in Gandhi Nagar area. The project would benefit the consumer in number of ways which among other things include timely availability of bill, enable ATM payment and also bill delivery through internet. Set up with the objective of timely delivery of power tariff bills to consumers, the computerized billing would help to avoid delay in collection of revenue. The project named as JKRMCE, the, department has sought technical support of National Informatics Centre J&K state. The project under implementation is being developed under the project leadership of NIC Engineer J K Singh Sodi.
