| Police busts gang of inter-state bike-lifters, 2 apprehended | | 7 stolen motorcycles, scooters recovered | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 15: Police busted a gang of inter-state bike-lifters and arrested two persons who were said to be involved in at least seven theft cases in Jammu city. Seven motorcycles have also been recovered on the disclosure of the accused persons. Well informed sources told that based on specific inputs about the increasing activities of a motorcycle lifter gang in Bakshi Nagar and Talab Tilloo area, senior police officers constituted a special team headed by ASI Talab Tilloo Parvaiz Sajad under the supervision of SHO Police Station Nowabad. The police team, sources said, apprehended two persons believed to be the kingpins of a gang. The arrested persons were identified as Ramesh Kumar son of Rajesh Kumar resident of Shaktiour Urissa at present Lale-da Bagh Jammu and Raj Kumar son of Kalidass. Sources said that during the interrogation, the accused confessed their involvement in seven theft cases including three of police post Talab Tilloo and four of police station Bakshi Nagar. They disclosed that the motorcycles/scooters stolen by them have been sold out to different persons in Jammu city and its surrounding areas, a senior police officer said. Subsequently, sources added, different teams were constituted and recoveries of all these stolen motorcycles/ scooters were made from various persons in and around Jammu city. Police said that the interrogation of the accused persons was still going on and some more recoveries are likely to take place in coming few days.
