| Ram establishes his existence but no politicizing Ram | | | Early Times Special Correspondant Jammu | Sep 15 With the UPA government undertaking damage control over the blunder it committed by submitting an affidavit in the Supreme Court that there was no historical proof of the presence of Ram at any stage and hurriedly withdrawing the affidavit, admitting its mistake and emphasizing that there is no need for proof where religious faith is involved, Ram has established its existence beyond any doubt. Not only this, but the Union Law Minister, H R Bhardwaj, whose ministry is supposed to have wetted the contents of the affidavit, before Archeological Survey of India submitted the same, casting doubt on Ram having ever lived, has taken a 180 degree u turn by asserting "God is God, Ganga is Ganga and Ram is Ram" and that there is no need of any evidence to prove the same. So much so that even CPI(M) leader, Sita Ram Yechuri, whose party members are believed to be not believing in God and at least giving least credence to religious faiths, has found fault with the affidavit filed by the Central government, putting doubt on the existence of Ram. Happily some Islamic extremist leaders from Kashmir as Maulvi Omer Farooq and Shabir Ahmed Shah have also assailed casting doubts on the veracity of religious beliefs. The Central government has not only withdrawn the controversial affidavit, but has also sought three months time to have rethinking over its Samundrasetu project, obviously to accommodate the concern of those who are opposed to ant damage being caused to Ram Setu, the under sea bridge believed to have been constructed on the order of Bhagwan Ram, to make him reach Sri Lanka, to rescue his wife Sita, abducted by Ravan. With Ram being universally revered and held in high esteem in the country as a whole and particularly Hindus without any exception and irrespective of their political ideologies and leanings according place of high honour to Ram, any attempt to politicize Ram and any political party claiming to be his sole custodian and using his name to further the party's political prospects, is doing injustice to Ram and limiting his relevance. The whole country has stake in J&K : Of the ten of its officers who attained martyrdom in defending the solidarity of the country and safeguarding its frontiers, remembered by the Western Command of Indian Army, on the occasion of its diamond jubilee celebrations, seven have lost their lives fighting against the aggressors in Jammu and Kashmir. Major Shaitan Singh PVC of Kumaon Regiment and Major Dhan Singh Thapa PVC born in Himachal Pradesh and recruited in Gorkha riffles sacrificed their lives in Ladakh area of Jammu and Kashmir defending it against Chinese aggression in 1962. Besides these valiant officers of the Indian army, who have made supreme sacrifices to keep Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India thousands of Jawans have also laid down their lives for the same cause. The scarifies of their lives by over four hundred soldiers in the Kargil war of 1999 and many more in fighting the proxy war launched by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir are the latest in the annals of bravery and sagas of martyrdom for the defense of the motherland. All these soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in fighting against the enemy in Jammu and Kashmir belonged to various parts of the country. Thus it is the country as a whole, which has the stake to keep Jammu and Kashmir as part and parcel of India.
