Intellectuals discuss ‘terrorism’

A well attended seminar on terrorism was held today, in the auditorium of Regional research Laboratory, Jammu. The seminar was sponsored by Jammu And Kashmir Intellectual forum, and was addressed by a host of prominent speakers which included some teachers from Jammu University also. The seminar was presided over by Dr GN Qazi, director RRL Jammu.
Various speakers in their presentations traced the growth and genesis of terrorism into a world wide phenomenon. While some of the speakers lamented the grievous injuries and distortions that this phenomenon has inflicted on the political and social systems of the effected countries, they at the same time cautioned the intellectuals to be in the forefront of struggle against this menace, and against all those elements who sponsor and promote it on the pretext of one consideration or the other.
Besides Dr Qazi the seminar was addressed by Prof D K Rampal president of the sponsoring forum. He in his deposition called upon the inhabitants of Asia not to be misled by the pseudo terms of Islamism etc which as per him were the motivated inventions of the western powers, who because of their economic interests are trying to project the struggle as one between various cultures. In his forceful deposition. Rampal related the World Terrorism to Imperialism. Prof Rekha Chowdhary of Political Science Department, JU, also called upon people to remain ever vigilant against those forces who were bent upon dividing people.
The seminar was also addressed by J Narayana Rao, an expert on Terrorism, who had travelled all the way from Nagpur to attend the seminar .He also threw light on the genesis of Terrorism and related its present form to worlds unequal economic order, which continued to be in the hands of western powers.
