Welfare of police parivar top on agenda: Khoda

Jammu |Sep 15: Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has said that police personnel posted anywhere in the state formed an integral part of larger police family and their welfare is of paramount importance.
Addressing the Police Darbars at newly created district headquarters of Samba and Reasi today, Director General of Police said that those posted in far-off and remote areas should not nurture the feeling of being ignored as the Police Headquarters (PHQ) will always respond to their problems and grievances.
Khoda hoped that the personnel serving all over the state will maintain and enhance the image of the organization by proving to be the friends of the people in real sense and always remain in the fore-front to help them.
Addressing Police darbar at Kathua in the afternoon, Director General of Police said that PHQ is also focusing on better career prospects of officers and jawans of the police so that they serve the society with single minded dedication, commitment and zeal to come up to the expectations of the people. He said policing has become a more challenging job and called upon all ranks of the force to strengthen people-friendly relations for their effective performance.
Director General of Police noted with satisfaction the performance of police in tackling the prevailing situation and ensuring safety of public life and property, saying the challenges are many which have to be met with courage and fortitude. He said by dint of dedication and high sense of duty, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has attained an enviable position all over the country and emerged as a premier force. He impressed upon the jawans and police officials to be people friendly and respect human rights. He said there has been tremendous improvement in the image of police but at the same time there are certain areas where further improvement is required. He said that police force would be modernized and police stations of every district headquarter developed into a model police station.
He also discussed measures for education of the wards of police martyrs as well as serving employees and also timely promotions of officers and officials of the department for which promotion committees have already been constituted.
Khoda had a detailed interaction with the jawans and also heard their grievances. He issued on-the-spot instructions to redress many of the grievances during the darbars while in other cases he assured appropriate and prompt action.
Director General of Police said that he has held meetings with the top police brass and evolved comprehensive strategies to redress the grievances and problems of the police parivar by strengthening grievance redressal mechanism at all levels.
Khoda, who was on a first visit of Reasi, Samba and Kathua districts after taking over the DGP, also had detailed meetings with senior police officers at eadquarerswhich he reviewed the security scenario and general law and order situation in these areas.
During his tour, Khoda also visited some police stations on way to district headquarters at Reasi, Samba and Kathua, where he inspected records of police stations and took stock of their functioning. He was briefed about the day-to-day working and deployment of manpower in their jurisdictions.
The Director General of Police was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the contingents of JKP on his arrival at all the district headquarters and the officers and jawans greeted him warmly.
Prominent among those present at the darbars were Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone, Dr. S.P.Vaid, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, L. T. Mohanty and Alok Puri, SSPs, J.P.Singh, R.K.Resotra and Mr .J.L.Sharma, besides other police officers
