| Engineers outlive their age through their works: Phunsog | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar|Sep 15 - Describing engineers as real architects of the nation, Chief Secretary, J&K C. Phunsog has stressed them to continuously upgrade their knowledge and acumen so that their works match the demands of the time and also to impart their knowledge to other people so that they can prove to be better skilled human resource and get jobs in other parts of the world. He was addressing 40th engineers Day-2007 seminar “Convergence of Technologies for Rapid Development” at Amar Singh Club, Srinagar. The seminar was organized by the Institution of Engineers (India) Jammu and Kashmir State Centre, Sonwarbagh, Srinagar Kashmir. The day coincides with the birth celebration of Late Sir M. Visvesvaraya . Chief Secretary while highlighting the role of Dr. Visvesvaraya said that he was a real builder of the society. He said that we have to pay him the homage of love and reverence which is due to him by right of his services to the people of the country and elsewhere. He said that his personality and his public services evoke love, respect and admiration among the people of the country. Saying that for balanced and holistic development of society Phunsog said that physical infrastructure has a pivotal role because economic development is primarily subjected to better roads, buildings and industrial set up and in this regard, he added, an engineer’s role is simply indispensable. He further said that an engineer is an asset to country who, with his knowledge and skill is a perennial capital for the country and added that he never faces retirement as he continues to live through his master creations even after he ceases to live physically. He hoped that technical session of the seminar will be useful. Chairman, Institution of Engineers (India) J&M State Centre Er. Pirzada Mumtaz Ahmad, FIE presented welcome address and Honorary Secretary Er. Mohammad Ashraf Fazili, FIE presented the vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. O. N. Wakhlu, FIE, M. Irfan-ul-Islam Bhat, JE Er. Raveeza Din, JE also presented their papers during the session. Discussions were also held during the technical session.
