| Peerzada hails Azad’s announcement on JU campus in Poonch | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 15 Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh congress committee president Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has hailed the announcement of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for installation of an additional campus of Jammu University at Poonch and granting permission to students from POK too, to pursue higher education in the new campus described and an historical step toward mission of goodwill between two neighbours. Sayeed was speaking in a meeting of party functionaries at PCC Jammu, today. He said that congress led coalition government at the centre and state are seriously making all possible efforts to ameliorate the peoples problems and upgrade their living standard by way of providing basic facilities of the like education, medicare, road connectivity, power and safe drinking water etc. He said that Azad led coalition government in the state has taken strong measures to provide basic facilities to the people which could not be possible without the basic infrastructure to be installed. We are thankful to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi for providing liberal funds and support for installing basic infrastructure and to carryout the necessary and major development works in the state, he added. PCC President congratulated the Chief Minister and the people of Poonch and Rajouri district for additional campus of Jammu University at Poonch, Besides construction of 42km Loran-Arizal (Badgam) road link. He said that this shortest road link would provide quick access to people of Poonch and Kashmir valley and it is in addition to the under construction of Mughal road connecting valley with the hilly districts of Poonch and Rajouri. The meeting was attended by Dharam Pal, S. Praduman Singh-MLC, Yash Paul Khajuria, Mula Ram MLA, Yogesh Sawhney-MLA, Narinder Singh Jamwal-Mayor JMC, Hari Singh, Geeta Devi, Amlok Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma President INTUC, Krishan Lal Gupta, Om Chopra-President DCC Jammu(U), Baldev Sharma Ex-MLA, Nek Mohd. Mansa Ram, B.B. Gupta and others. Meanwhile, a deputation of Muslim community met PCC President at party headquarter Shaheedi Chowk and demanded uninterrupted electric power supply at Talab Khatikan, Mohalla ustad, Gujjar Nagar, Bhathindi, Sidrah and other areas of Jammu city in the holy month of Ramzan. Sayeed assured the deputation that he will talk to the concerned department to ensure uninterrupted power supply, especially in night hours.
