Early Times Reporter
Jammu | Sep 15: An avid golfer Dr Farooq Abdullah has promised to accord top priority to sports in the state provided people vote him to power.
The former Chief Minister and Member Parliament in a statement assured to give an impetus to the neglected sports sector in the state he if gets back into the corridors of power.
Farooq’s statement came after coalition government failed in maintaining his brain child—the Royal Spring Golf Course in Srinagar.
He said that the condition of the Royal Spring Golf Couse, situated on the banks of the world famous Dal Lake and on the foothills of Zabarwan range has worsened over the years.
Speaking to the participants of the Kashmir Uzma Invitational Golf tournament Dr Abdullah said that the lush green 18-hole golf course has been badly damaged by the polluted water of the Dal Lake.
“If I become the Chief Minister once again, I will privatize the Royal Springs Golf Course to bring it at par with international standards and ensure that it is properly maintained,” he said.
