| Infiltration on rise, two more killed on LoC | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 15: As widely expected by security agencies and experts, the level infiltration and militancy related activities are registering a steep rise with the onset of the month of Ramadan. It may be mentioned here that during the training of militants in the camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir they are taught about value of the 'sacrifices' during the month of Ramadan. After killing of six militants yesterday, the troops today foiled yet another infiltration bid when they gunned down two heavily armed militants in Kupwara sector. An official spokesman said that troops guarding the border noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) at Deradoori early this morning under the cover of darkness. When challenged and asked to surrender, the infiltrators opened fire. The fire was returned and in the ensuring gun battle, two militants were killed. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunitions were recovered from the slain militants. This was the third infiltration bid by the militants in this month and first during the holy month of Ramadan. Troops guarding LoC, in Baramulla sector killed four infiltrators soon after they crossed to this side from POK on September 10 morning. Four more infiltrators were gunned down by the troops in a fierce encounter ensued after they (infiltrators) sneaked into this side in Machil sector on September 11. Meanwhile, a militant belonging to the Hizbul Mujahideen outfit today surrendered before the police in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said. Babar Ali Sheikh, code named Naved Hussain, laid down an AK assault rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds, an SLR and a radio set, they said. They said 27 militants of different outfits have surrendered before the police in Doda so far. In another incident, Security Forces have arrested 18 Bangladeshis while they were trying to exfiltrate to other side of the India-Pakistan border in Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said today. Sources said that a group of people were noticed near the border by the security forces in the wee hours today. When enquired, all 18 persons including 12 men, four women and two children, were found to be Bangladeshis, sources said. However, they were handed over to the police.
