| PM likely to be discharged from AIIMS today | | | NEW DELHI, SEP 16 Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who underwent surgery of the prostate gland at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), is recovering well and is likely to be discharged tomorrow. "The Prime Minister is recovering well and may return home tomorrow," a spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office said. Singh, 75, was admitted to AIIMS yesterday for the surgery. The surgery -- a trans-urethral resection of the prostate gland -- was performed to treat "benign prostatic hypertrophy of the prostate" or benign enlargement of the gland. President Pratibha Patil spoke to Singh on phone yesterday and wished him a speedy recovery. Several Cabinet ministers and friends too sent "get well" messages to Singh. No visitors are being allowed to meet the Prime Minister.
