| Natwar, Jagat served show cause in land allotment case | | | Jaipur, Aug 16 :
The Rajasthan High Court has served show cause notices to former External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh, his son Jagat Singh and the state government while admitting a petition regarding a land allotment dispute. Justice Ashok Parihar of the Jaipur Bench recently issued the notices, copies of which were made available today, on a writ by Bharat Singh alleging that three bighas of his land was given at a concessional rate to his elder brother Natwar Singh and nephew Jagat Singh. The judge fixed the hearing of the case for later this week. Bharat Singh said in the writ that agricultural land, situated near their ancestral property, worth Rs 600 million was acquired in Bharatpur by the state government in 1972-73 and claimed it was orginally in his 'Khatedari rights'. He said the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Bharatpur took possession of the land and compensated him but he later applied for three bighas worth Rs 300 mn to be alloted back to him at a concessional rate. His petition alleged that in May this year, UIT was instructed by the deputy-secretary (Urban Development and Housing) to allot the land to Natwar Singh and his son. Bharat Singh's counsel K S Rathore alleged that the Natwar Singh and Jagat Singh had never been in possession of the land and it was allotted to them at "throwaway prices". |
