| Taxi operators seek ban on unlawful tour agencies | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 16: Jammu Province Tourist Taxi Operators Federation (JPTTOF) has stressed upon the government to ban the tourist and transport agencies operating unlawfully in Jammu province that facilitate the plying of non commercial vehicles as commercial vehicles across the Province. Talking to Media persons here today, the Chair man of the Federation, Inderjeet Sharma said that the hundreds of non commercial vehicles are plying as commercial vehicles in connivance with the various Transport Agencies and Travel Agencies. "The violation of the rules prescribed under Transport Vehicle Act has not only caused huge loss to state exchequer but also to registered commercial vehicles of the province" he said. Holding Deputy Director Tourism, Jammu responsible for the mess, he alleged that ninety percent of tourist agencies across the province are operating illegally as a consequence of which the prevailing mess is the outcome. "Illegal licences have been issued and as a result we can see a travel agency in every Mohall every city and every town of the province." Stressing upon the authorities to penalize the owners of private vehicles who ply them as commercial, he said, "he should not only be penalized but his registration should be cancelled as well. The travel, transport agencies found involved in helping a non commercial vehicle to ply as commercial one should be taken to task"
