Jora inaugurates receiving station at Rainawari

Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today inaugurated 2x10 MVA, 33/11 KV Receiving Station at Rainawari Srinagar.
Member Legislative Assembly Hazratbal Mr. Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon, Power Development Commissioner Mr. S R. Wani, Chief Engineer M&RE Kashmir Kh. Nissar Hussain, senior engineers of the department and large number of people were present on the occasion.
The Receiving Station has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.59 crore. The project having 4 outgoing feeders would provide power supply to over 40,000 souls of the areas of JLNM Rainawari hospital, Jogilankar, Rainawari, Kondabal, Hasnabad, Pujh Mohalla, Berooni Kathidarwaza, Mughal Mohalla, Kralayar and Kalwal Mohalla.
Addressing the people on the occasion, the Minister said that Rs 227 crore have been earmarked under APDRP for constructing 25 Receiving Stations in twin districts of Srinagar and Budgam. He said and added that out of them the works on 11 Receiving Stations have been completed while work on 8 projects is going on.
Mr. Jora said that with the completion of the project the long pending demand of the people has been fulfilled. He said that the work on the Receiving Station has been completed within a record period of nine months. He said that the department is contemplating to set up another receiving station in the area with the availability of land.
Congratulating the people over the inauguration of the project in the month of Ramadhan, the Minister said that the commissioning of Receiving Station would increase the capacity of power supply in the area.
Mr. Jora asked the concerned officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramadhan. He appealed the people to refrain from misusing of the electricity and use it judiciously besides paying power tariff in regular periods.
The Minister said that the state has received Rs 1100 crore under APDRP besides Rs 1350 crore for increasing the capacity of Receiving Stations in the state.
Responding the queries of media-persons, Mr. Jora said that there has been satisfactory improvement in the supply position of electricity in the state which is getting momentum day by day. He sought people’s cooperation for improving the infrastructure and management of the department.
