| Khuda asks security forces to remain vigilant | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu|Sep 17 “Since the infrastructure for terrorism in our neighbouring country is intact the security forces have to be extra alert for negating the designs of militant outfits.” This is the observation of Kuldeep Khuda, who took over as Director General police recently. In an interview Khuda told Kamir Independent Press “though the level of militancy related violence has declined, terrorism is still being controlled and calibrated from across the border” which demanded continuation of anti-insurgency operations. In support of his claim he said that during the last eight months 739 incidents of violence took place in the state against 1312 in 2005 and 1039 in 2006. Khuda said that similarly there has been a drop in the killing of civilians and security personnel. He said that during the last eight months 118 civilians lost their lives to gun and grenade attacks by the militants against 359 in 2005 and 291 in 2006 In reply to a question he said that infiltration from across the border this year has been on the same pattern as was witnessed last year, better border management, fencing of the LOC,installation of gadgets for monitoring the movement of infiltrators had made ingress difficult. However, small groups of militants have managed to sneak into Jammu and Kamir.”we have various security agencies to deal with the situation,”he added
