| SBI performance reviewed | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 17 District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee meeting was held at hotel Savoy under the chairmanip of ADDC Jammu, Charanjit Singh (KAS). He reviewed the performance of Banks during the meeting. Chief manager Lead Bank (SBI) Jammu convened the meeting and MLA Bina, Awani arma was the chief guest on the occasion. R. K. Koul, LDM (SBI) presented performance report of the banks in various sectors. It was reveled that during first quarter that ended in June this year, hefty credit dispensation of Rs 314.10 cr had been made out of which Rs 181.68 cr had been disbursed under priority sector registering an achievement of 40%. Total priority sector lending as on June 2007 had been at the level of Rs 1474 cr (51%). He further disclosed that a target of Rs 45 cr has been set for disbursements to be made under various Govt. sponsored schemes during the year 2007 – 2008. ADDC Jammu, Charanjit Singh (KAS) urged upon the need to improve CD ratio that was just 38.46% as against a bench mark of 60% which was fixed by RBI. He appreciated the efforts being made by SBI towards creating necessary awareness among the people of state by organizing orientation-training programmes through Rural Development & self-employment Training Institute (RDSETI) set up by them in all lead districts. He also applauded the banks for their joint effort in pursuing the initiative under the banner BANK CHOPAL. He further instructed the concerned officers including BDOs & Tehsildars to extend full support and cooperation to the banks in the recovery of bad loans. Speaking on the occasion MLA Binah, Awani Kumar said that the empowerment of women could be brought about by guaranteeing them economic independence through self-employment generating programme. He also impressed uon the line department to sponsor sufficient number of cases under GSS and not compromise on quality. . Koul (LDM) said that all the banks operating in the district have resolved to jointly ensure that banks reach out to all households by opening "No Frills Account" & fulfill the national Agenda of 100% financial inclusion. Formulation of the potential linked plan for the year 2008 – 09 was also discussed. Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Ram Rattan (Chief Planning Officer), A.D.Pandita & S.K.Pandita, CHIEF MANAGER SBI, Kaki Koul, LDO (RBI), Smiriti Bhagat, DDM (NABARD), adi Lal KOUL DCO (JK Bank), A.K.MOTA DCO (PNB) and other senior officers from banks and Govt. Departments.
