Khalleni gets three pre-fab tourist huts
CM asks people to benefit from tourism promotion schemes

Khalleni (Doda)| Sep 17- Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that tourism has a multiplier effect on the economy and called upon people to benefit from various schemes launched by the government to promote this vital sector.
Addressing a public meeting at Khalleni in Doda district, the Chief Minister said that development of tourism infrastructure at various places in the State ensures arrival of large number of tourists which in turn provides boost to economy and also generates employment avenues.
The Chief Minister said that people should take advantage of the novel scheme under which they are provided up to Rs. 2 lakhs for upgrading a portion of their house to be rented out to tourists as paying guests. He said the scheme is aimed at supplementing the existing tourism infrastructure and involving people in tourism promotion. He described peace as essential for tourism promotion and asked people to provide a helping hand in the efforts of the government to ensure lasting peace in the State.
Referring to the horticulture scenario in Doda district, the Chief Minister said that government will provide quality plants of fast growing and early fruit bearing varieties of different fruits on subsidized rates and asked the people to benefit from the scheme. He said that cold storages would be set up in fruit producing areas for better returns to the orchardists. He said a chain of fruit mandies is being established across the State to provide better marketing facilities to the growers for their produce.
Azad said that government has embarked on a mission to develop infrastructure and schools, roads, bridges, water supply schemes and health institutions are being constructed and upgraded throughout the State. He said that Rs. 50 lakh have been earmarked for construction of Seri bridge in the area for providing better connectivity to the people.
The Chief Minister asked Doda district administration to identify land for setting up of an army goodwill school on the pattern of Rajouri so that students of the area get quality education.
Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated three pre-fabricated tourist huts at Khalleni. Three more are nearing completion. The huts, estimated to cost Rs. 94 lakhs, would comprise 10 rooms, a restaurant and rain shelter.
The Chief Minister lauded the BEACON authorities for speeding up work on widening and up-gradation of Doda-Bhadarwah road that would be completed by April next.
