Police today claimed to have busted a major Lashker-e Tioba module planning to carry out series of attacks across Baramullah district in North Kashmir, besides arresting three militants during Separate anto militancy operations
Sources told KMT that one militant and three Over ground Workers working as couriers and facilitators for Lashker outfit were arrested from different areas of Sopore during a series of raids.
A Police Spokesman said on specific information about the presence of militants, Police launched a search operation and arrested one Lashker-e-Toiba militant identified as Nisar Ahmad Dar alias Sajid, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Dar, a resident of Saidpora Sopore.
Later in similar raids three over ground Workers of Lashker-e-Toiba were arrested from different areas of Sopore, he said adding that the trio were working for Lashker-e- Tioba by transporting weapons and facilitating the movement of its commanders from one place to another
Identifying them as Abdul Hamid Shah Hassan, son of Ghulam Ahmad Shah, resident of Shallapora, Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmad Changa alias Shahid, son of Ghulam Ahmad Changa , resident of Hyder Colony Sopore and Muzaffar Ahmad Saboon alias Zubair, son of Ghulam Mustafa Saboon, resident of Iqbal Nagar Sopore, sources said that 11 hand grenades and nine UBGL grenades were recovered from their possession.
Sources said that the interrogation of the accused have revealed that Abdul Hamid Shah was responsible for helping militants to carry out ambush on Army convoy at Sopore on June 15 this year. Shah had also transported the militants who attacked the convoy.
They said that the grenades which were recovered on the disclosure of the arrested persons bear the same series number as that of the levers of the grenades which were recovered after the grenade attacks in the Sopore after the blasts.
Meanwhile, Kupwara Police has apprehended two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militants including a self styled battalion commander of the outfit from Nutnusa Kupwara.
According to SP Kupwara, . Vijay Kumar, Kupwara Police acting on specific information arrested two hardcore militants of HM outfit from Nutnusa in the frontier District of Kupwara, today.
He identified the arrested militants as Irshad Ahmad Lone alias Khursheed alias Bilal, son of Ab. Ahad Lone, resident of Logripora Sopore and Tariq Ahmad Shah, son of Safi-ud-din Shah, resident of Dangiwachi Baramulla of HM Outfit.
He further stated that while Irshad a self styled battalion Commander of HM outfit was active in Sopore-Baramulla area since many years. He further said that Irshad was involved in several innocent killings and Police has been looking for him quite some time.
Terming their arrests as a huge success for Kupwara Police, SSP further said that one Pistol, one Magazine, five rounds, one Mobile Phone and two hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the arrested militants.
