| State Judo team named | | Nippu, Shweta, Sheetal, Rameez among medal hopes | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 18 Jammu and Kashmir Judo Association today named its 20-member squad for the Junior National Judo Championship going to be held at Bhilai in Chattisgarh from September 22 to September 24. The team will proceed for the venue tomorrow. The team was cleared by the screening committee of the J&K State Sports Council comprising of Ajay Sharma and Kuldeep Magotra this evening. Sports Officer of the State Sports Council, Krishan Sharma and general secretary of the Judo Association, R C Thakur were also present. Meanwhile, the Association has high hopes on four judokas, including three girls. While Nippu Jamwal and Shweta Thakur are gold medalists in the last year’s national meet, Sheetal Sharma has already won two medals last year in sub-junior group. “We are also expecting medal this time from Rameez Aslam of Srinagar in the under-17 boys group,” said Vikas Gupta, joint secretary of the Association. The team: Girls under-14 year: 40 kg: Paheli Sharma. 44 kg: Nippu Jamwal. Plus 52 kg: Shweta Thakur. Under-20 year: 48 kg: Sheetal Sharma. Plus 63 kg: Tsering Angmo (Leh). Boys under-17 year: 45 kg: Vivek Sharma (Jammu). 50 kg: Aman Gupta (Jammu). 55 kg: Abdul Rashid (Kathua). 60 kg: Rameez Aslam (Srinagar). Plus 60 kg: Ishan Kesar (Jammu). Under-20 year: 56 kg: Faisal Maqbool (Srinagar). 60 kg: Rajesh Singh (Jammu). 66 kg: Mohd Yasir (Srinagar). 73 kg: Mohd Yaqoob (Kathua). 81 kg: Aman Sharma (Kathua). Plus 81 kg: Heemanshu Sharma (Kathua). Team coaches: Suraj Bhan Singh and Ritika Salathia. Manager: Pankaj Sapolia.
