| SECURITY FORCES TOLD NOT TO LOWER THE GUARD | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Srinagar,August 16 :
Peaceful Independence daycelebrations may have boosted morale of the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir but senior security officials have one piece of advice for their junior counterparts ,"don’t lower your guard in he days to come".Official sources said here on Wednesday, the Independence day celebrations may have passed off peacefully but security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir were not willing to take any chances and are maintaining strict vigil across the state especially on the line of control to thwart nefarious designs of militants to infiltrate in large numbers.Meanwhile, according to reports of state and central intelligence agencies, the miltiant organisations have been tasked by their mentors sitting across the borders to target security forces and strategic installations to create more panic.Talking to reporters, a senior officer said, in the run up to the I- day celebration we were under intense pressure from our bosses to check militant strikes at any cost. He said, we always maintain tight vigil but during Independence day,Republic day and and on festivals we exercise extra caution as threat perception goes up. He said this is not the time to lower our guard because years of experience have taught us militants strike when security forces donot expect them to.
