| JMC’s attempt to demolish temple sparks protest | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sept 18 Local residents today took to streets protesting against Jammu Municipal Corporation employees’ attempt to demolish a temple at Bikram Chowk. The agitating people alleged that the act of the civic body was anti religions and has hurt sentiments of common people. The JMC team after feeling heat of the situation preferred to leave from there. A team of Jammu Municipal Corporation along with police and CRPF team today afternoon came to the premises of temple of Lord Rama at Bikram Chowk and started demolishing it. After getting information, locals started gathering there and raised anti government slogan there. The mahant of said temple told that the land which corporation calimed belonged to the corporation was basically given to him by a person namely Darshan Singh who was real owner of the land in the year 2000 and he had later built a temple there. He lamented that the authorities had without asking anything and sending any notice have started demolishing the same.
