| CITU vice president abducted; foul play not ruled out | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Sep 18 Vice president of Central India Trade Union (CITU) OP Sambyal was allegedly abducted by some unidentified persons from near Domail, Katra, late last night. Though a case of abduction has been registered, police is suspecting some foul play in the matter. Well informed sources said that Sambyal hired a private taxi, Tata Balaro, from Basholi and went to Katra on Monday morning. He was returning back to Jammu when some unidentified persons forced him out of the vehicle near Domail and abducted him. His whereabouts, as per the trade leaders, is not known since last evening as police failed to make arrest. One of the union leaders, KK Bakshi said that Sambyal's vehicle was stopped by unidentified persons, said to be five in number, last evening. "While the driver was asked to take the vehicle, Sambyal was dragged out of it and taken to some unknown destination". Superintendent of Police Katra Ashok Sharma said that police has started investigation of the matter and has registered a case of abduction. "We are looking for the driver, who has not even reached back to his home at Basohli till this evening", he said. Sharma claimed that it was the driver who informed a union leader about the abduction on phone and that's how we came to know about the matter. "We are helpless to move further in the investigation as it is the driver, who can give us some lead", he said adding, "The driver has switched off his mobile phone and has not gone back to his home". He said that the Basohli police has also been informed and asked to keep a watch on the driver's house. However, sources in the police department said that the entire matter seems to be a staged drama to create some sort of pressure on the rival unions and railway contractors. "We can not rule out the possibility of some kind of foul play", sources said on the condition of anonymity.
