Minister of state for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal has spoken out on the Ram Setu controversy, saying while there is no scientific basis for the belief that the Ramar Sethu is man-made, one should respect the faith Hindus have in it.
Sibal’s comments come after repeated statements by Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi that Ram is a myth. “There is no scientific belief that Ramsetu is man-made. But people believe in it and we respect their faith,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Setu controversy has led to in-fighting within the Congress party with senior leader suggesting Culture Minister Ambika Soni resigned over the matter.
Senior party leader RK Dhawan and earlier, Commerce Minister Jairam Ramesh had trained their guns on Soni indicating that the blunder called for her resignation
