| Charak visit Srinagar interiors, pays obeisance at Khankhai Amir-i-Kabir | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Sep 18 Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak today inspected ongoing works in the interior of Srinagar city. He gave on spot directions to R&B department Kashmir for the repair and upgradation of these roads. The areas Minister visited included Khankhi Moula, Bohri Kadal, Narwara, Kawadara, Chrar Nambal, Malik Sahib Safa Kadal, Guzarbal Palapora, Gassiyar Chowk Hawal and Soura. The Minister was accompanied by senior Congress leader and Councilor Mr. Abdul Gani Khan, Chief Engineer R&B, Kashmir and Superintending Engineers of the Srinagar city. At Khankhi Moula, the Minister paid obeisance at the Khankah of Amir-i-Kabir Mir Syed Ali Hamdani ( R.A). His visit also marked attendance at the Kali Mandir, the centaury old heritage site of Jammu and Kashmir composite culture. He asked the Chief Engineer to beautify the adjacent area of Khankah and also renovate the area of Kali Mandir. At Kawadara, Mr. Charak directs the Superintending Engineer R&B to upgrade the Sheikh-ul-Alam Colony road immediately under City Development Road programme. He was informed that under this programme maximum number of roads were completed by the department so far. He directed the engineers to speed up the mecadamization work in other roads also before October 2007. During the tour various people met the Minister and requested him to upgrade the drainage system of the city which is the main cause for damaging the roads of the city. At Soura, the Minister directed the Economic Reconstruction Agency to speed up the upgradation work from Soura to Iddgah road immediately which was damaged due to the laying of water pipes for Rangil Water Supply Scheme.
