| 17th Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championship gets underway | | | Early Times Reporter JAMMU | Sep 19: President of the Jammu and Kashmir Billiards and Snooker Association and Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council, Siddharth Sharma today said that the efforts are being made to introduce the game of billiards and snooker in other districts of the state. Siddharth was talking to the young cueists on the inaugural function of the 17th Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championship at Billiards, M A Stadium, here this evening. “Since the game is limited to the two capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar, the Association is making efforts to take it to other districts where there is a scope for the game to develop,” said Siddharth Sharma. He also disclosed that the district Srinagar championship shall also start by the next week Earlier, the championship was declared open with the junior snooker competitions by the Joint Secretary by potting the red in the centre pocket amidst claps from the guests and the participants. In the meantime, general secretary of the Association, Sheetal Gandotra said that entries for the junior billiards and senior categories are still open and those interested to take part can submit the same to the organizing secretary at Billiards hall. In all, around 40 cueists are taking part in the junior competitions. Prominent among others present were Ajay Sharma, member State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma, Manager Indoor Complex and incharge MA Stadium, Satish Gupta and organizing secretary, Jaideep Manocha.
