Jammu |Sep 19 :-The Panthers Party has decided to go alone in the next Assembly poll."We do not find any need for forging an alliance or electoral adjustment with any political party,"said Harsh Dev Singh, leader of Panthers Party legislature party, today.
He said "judged by the response of panthers Party ticket seekers and from the electorates in various constituencies the Panthers has come to the conclusion that if we have to be in a position to hold the balance of the future Government we have to fight the poll all alone."
He claimed that for the first time in the last 10 years the number of ticket seekers in the Party headquarters has swelled to that extent that we had to constitute an election committee for determining who could be suitable candidates in different constituencies. The 11-member election committee is headed by Harsh Dev Singh.Three other sitting party MLAs are its members. He said that the committee will examine the claim of each ticket seekers before finalising the list of the candidates.
Harsh Dev Singh indicated that all the four sitting MLAs would get the party ticket and besides this majority of those fielded in 2002 poll will be given the party mandate. He said in 2002 the panthers Party had fielded candidates in 36 constituencies but during the next election it will contest atleast 50 seats, including 15 to 20 from the Kashmir valley. He also claimed that a large number of Panthers supporters in the Kashmir valley had been pressing for party mandate."We shall examine the potential of each candidate so that the right people were given the party tickets."
The Panthers Party leader said that "wqe shall be the first party in the state to shorlist party candidates in various constituencies so that much ahead of the polling our candidates get introduced to the electorate."He claimed that in various areas of the Jammu region the public rallies organised by the Panthers Party have received highly positive response from the people. He said that the the Panthers Party has an edge over other political organisations because it is neither cast based organisation nor a communal one nor does it believe in regional politics.
Harsh Dev predicted major surprises in the 2008 poll because the National Conference, the Congress, the PDP besides the BJP had been exposed."people want a change and do not favour those parties which had formed the Governments in the state during the last over 50 years.
