Stepped up militancy vindicates Indian stand

The security forces and more so our police force, which are subjected to brick bats, in terms of sharp criticism whenever terrorists succeed in striking in a big way, causing loss of human lives and destruction, attributing the same to the failure of our intelligence agencies, should also deserve bouquets when they foil a well knit terrorists plot and defeat the nefarious design of the merchants of death. In this regard the foiling of attempt by the militants on the life of Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who was scheduled to visit his home town and his constituency, Bhaderwah yesterday, to address his electorates, deserves kudos. The security forces and the state police who were obviously quite alert and vigil to take no chance on the occasion of the visit of the State Chief Minister, on the basis of intelligence inputs launched a joint operation during the wee hours at a hideout of militants, near the venue of the public meeting in the operation, in which both the LeT militants were eliminated, whereas a valiant army major, a sub inspector and a police cop received injuries. In fact Tuesday September 18 was a day of major achievements by the security forces in taking head on the terrorists in the state. Besides the Bhaderwah encounter, the forces in two major crackdowns, the same day in North Kashmir Bandipura, killed five foreign militants, including a self styled Jaish-e-Mohammad commander.
These encounters between the security forces and the militants, in which some officers and jawans of the forces too receive serious injuries, vindicates the stand of the government of India to not go for Ramzan ceasefire. The security agencies have specific inputs and intelligence reports of the game plan of terrorists to take advantage of the supposed let up, if not ceasefire during the holy month of Ramzan. These killings and blood shed during the holy month of Ramzan is no doubt a matter to be regretted, but since the same has been accomplished to save the lives of innocent people as well as our valiant security personnel and politicians, including the Chief Minister of the State, these could not be helped to be undertaken.
These incidents of growing terrorist strikes with reports got by our intelligence agencies about the presence of quite a large number of terrorists active in the state as well as five to six thousand militants in PoK and Pakistan waiting for crossing over with sophisticated arms, to this side for subversive activities, the advocates of unilateral ceasefire by security forces and those launching a campaign for demilitarization or troops reduction should stop playing to the gallery and playing with human lives, only to grind their political axe.
Pak objection unfounded:
The government of India deserves appreciation for rejecting the objection raised by Pakistan over the planned expedition being taken jointly by the army and civilians at the highest glacier of Saichen, commencing Wednesday September 19. Since this expedition is a part of the tourism promotion program of the government in Jammu and Kashmir, the people of this state have particular stake in the same. Like the dispute with Pakistan over implementation of Indus water treaty and occasional objections raised by Pakistan over hydro electric projects undertaken by the government on river Chenab, their objection to the expedition from Indian side, to our own territory is totally unjustified and concerns in particular the people of J&K, who are the beneficiaries of these projects and whom Pakistan tries to deprive of the benefits.
