| Vakil for streamlining supplies of essentials | | | Srinagar| Sep19 - Chairman House Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council on Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, MLA Abdul Gani Vakil has stressed the need for streamlining of food supplies with special attention on distribution in rural areas. He said that distribution of BPL ration should be done with utmost care and genuine beneficiaries should not face any hardship. Vakil was chairing the meeting of House Committee held in Council Lobby here today. Legislators Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Mohammad Sultan Panditpuri, Secretary CA & PD Khalid Habib and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. The Committee was informed that the CAPD Department has earned revenue of Rs. 16 crore out of the sale process of empty gunny bags. The Committee considered the issue of helpers, working with government ration depots/stores who are not paid by the government. The Secretary was asked to evolve some provision of remuneration to such helpers.
