| Army Conquers Mt Nun | | | New Delhi, Sep 19 Celebrating their diamond jubilee, the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI) have successfully placed 22 persons atop the 7,140 metre-high Mount Nun -- establishing a new record for summiteers. The expedition, led by Colonel Vinay Khosla, had three Officers, two JCOs and 17 other ranks summitting the Mt Nun peak in the Zanskar Range of Suru region (south of Kargil) over a period of three days -- with the last batch achieving success in the late hours of yesterday. JAK LI draws its troops from Jammu & Kashmir. In the scaling of Mt Nun -- which demands very high standards of technical expertise, courage, physical fitness and mental robustness -- five members belonged to Srinagar, three to Kargil, five to Poonch, three to Doda region while the remaining were from the Jammu region. Lt Gen PR Gangadhran, Military Secretary and Colonel of the JAK LI Regiment, has congratulated the team on the outstanding feat.
