To please their higher ups, the officials of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages gone beyond their limits. The nepotism is so deep rooted in the Academy that an employee of Junior Assistant level is holding the post of a Cultural officer merely being a close relation of a top political leader.
According to sources, during Bhadarwah festival in May this year, Academy opened a sub office there to please the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and in spite of posting a senior officer there, a Junior Assistant namely Rashid Jahangir was made incharge of the sub centre. Sources further revealed that said person is very close to the family of one of the top leaders. With his posting as Incharge sub office by passing his seniors, this blue eyed boy has been given three promotions in a row. He being merely a Junior Assistant at best could have been promoted as Senior Assistant but for close contacts with the corridors of powers he got three steps in one go ignoring the genuine claims of his seniors who have been clamoring since long for promotions. Sources also told that to reach on the post of cultural officer, a junior assistant level employee have to wait for twenty years or more but Rashid Jahangir reached there within six months.
When contacted Secretary of Academy Rafiq Masoodi denied the allegation and said that Academy had appointed the said person only to run the office on temporary basis. He further said the Academy is shortly advertising the posts lying vacant in Kala Kendra and Sub Offices for Bhadarwah, Baramulla and Poonch also.
Adding details sources also told that Academy had opened office there only to please the CM who is also the President of Academy. Sources also told that office is running only in papers but no work is done practically. Academy had also appointed four more employees there but they visit only twice in a week and even people of area do not know about the office because it opens only once or twice in a month.
