BJP State President Ashok Khajuria today appreciated Defence Minister AK Antony for his bold statement that there could be no unilateral cease-fire in Jammu and Kashmir during Ramzan. He also hailed the decision of the Defence Ministry to open the strategic Siachen to Indian travellers. He said both these steps augur well for the nation as they point to the determination of the Indian state to assert its authority on Jammu and Kashmir for which the BJP has been crying for since years.
Ashok Khajuria said by rejecting the demand for ceasefire and opening the Siachen area to the Indian trekkers, the Defence Minister has sent a clear signal that the Union Government would not allow Pakistan and its sympathizers in the PDP, the National Conference and the Hurriyat to influence the country’s defence preparedness or allow Pakistan to interfere in the internal affairs of India.
At the same time, however, Ashok Khajuria stressed the need for hot pursuit against militants who have been carrying on the anti-humanity and subversive activities since decades under the very nose of certain political elements in the state. He said the BJP would appreciate if the state government invokes the provisions of POTA and take on the subversives.
Meanwhile, Khajuria, along with former Union MoS Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, State General Secretary (Organisation) Ajay Jamwal and party MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma today left for Bhopal where they will take part in the proceedings of National Executive Meet. The party leaders are scheduled to make presentation on the Jammu and Kashmir situation and the party’s poll prospects.
